March update

A whole year without going to the football or Easter Road. Quite simply, that’s crap. However, it is looking very positive for next season - especially if we all keep doing the right things and the vaccine programme continues to go well - noises from the scottish government are positive.

Murray Milligen's picture earlier in the month captured Easter Road in all it's beauty. I'm more than hopeful the stadium will be glowing more than we know it on our return - https://twitter.com/MurrayMilligen/status/1372182677571375107?s=20

This month has passed in a bit of blur. Hibs have now won more away games this season (10) than they did in the entirety of last season both home and away. The club have never won eleven top flight away games in one season. Two away fixtures left to do it. I'm greedy. I want them both, especially our next away league fixture. No reason why we canny'.

Notice was received recently that the club AGM is being held next Wednesday, 7th April, at 3pm. Our annual accounts were also released. The club is in a good position to come out of the other end of COVID from a combination of quick action and tremendous backing from supporters through season ticket sales.

That backing won't be forgotten about.

Jack Ross commented after our win in Ross County - "We know supports have committed to the club this year with no reward in terms of being in the stadium. So, for us, there's a drive to get the club into Europe. That hopefully coincides with getting people back in."

Taken from the letter to shareholders - “Your Board and I would like to thank all those who supported the Club during the 19/20 season, especially in view of the challenges imposed on the Club and football in general by the Covid-19 pandemic. We are particularly grateful to our season ticket holders, the players and coaching staff, and the entire team at Hibernian FC for their tireless work behind the scenes to help the Club navigate the public health and financial challenges of the ongoing pandemic. Gratefully, the vaccine programme combined with the restrictions of recent months are bringing the pandemic under control, and the outlook for football in 2021 is starting to look brighter. We believe that in the foreseeable future we will be able to welcome you back to Easter Road. That will be a very special and wonderful day for us all.” Squad has eyes on the prize for finishing the season as strong as possible. Genuine belief they can seal 3rd and go the next step in the Scottish Cup after three semi final appearances in the last three cup competitions (new Scottish Cup dates can be found here).

I’ve been working with the club on a number points recently - providing direct feedback from supporters. The club has been fantastic considering all verbatim sent on.

Improvements to Hibs TV - short term and long term.

Recognising Supporter loyalty in 2020 and 2021 - the backing Hibs fans have shown the last 12 months has been extraordinary and it's recognising that for next seasons offering and beyond (Season Tickets should be released in April, especially now we have a stronger understanding of where we're going as a country from late summer onwards).

Club content - The club has worked with a hand behind it's back for some time because of the COVID landscape (restrictions and resources available). We're now coming out the other end of this and will start to see a ramp up in this space. Recent recruitment completed and more happening.

Show Racism the Red Card

Great to see Jack Ross and David Gray use the power of the Hibs brand to help with delivery of virtual anti-racism workshops to East Lothian schools recently. The feedback from young people was fantastic. Jack and ‘Sir David’ surprise pupils at Show Racism the Red Card virtual event | The Edinburgh Reporter

Enough is enough.

Hibernian Community Foundation

The foundation has some really exciting initiatives coming up. They respond to the needs of the communities they serve and really do us and the Hibs badge proud.

Restrictions are now easing and their community football programme is coming back. The Foundation recently thanked everyone that contributed their time and stories to the Academy - lots of inspirational stories from Hibs people. Excellent collaboration between club and foundation.

Hanlon Stevenson Foundation

HSF announced lifelong Hibs supporter Ian McDonald as their first Honorary President in early March.

Another supporter that epitomises the great Hibernian spirit of perseverance.

Paul Hanlon joined Louis Cooper of Youth Football Scotland to chat youth football, progressing into the professional ranks, being capped for Scotland and the community work of the Hanlon Stevenson Foundation. Remember to register your new online account on the new Hibernian FC website

KP - an important reminder to get yourself organised with a new online account on the new Hibernian FC website. This will act as a single sign-on for all platforms in the future (e-ticketing at the moment). A better experience. Important with season ticket release looming. ______________________________

Both Colin and Kenny Millar announced in March they would be leaving Hibernian and moving on to new exciting challenges. I wish them both the very best - both extremely vital support points for me in the last two years and dedicated to helping Hibs supporters - they'll be glad to be back in the stands amongst us.
